Auspicing.

Creative Albany is an incorporated organisation that supports creative endeavours, events, projects and exhibitions in the Great Southern, WA. This is often via auspicing; to assist those who are unable to seek funding (due to being an individual artist or unincorporated group.) Auspicing is a way to access funding that would otherwise be out of reach, with the support and oversight of a trusted, local organisation.

Typically, the process would be as follows:

1.     An artist / group / applicant seeks ‘in principle’ support from Creative Albany to apply for a grant for a creative project or event

2.     Creative Albany provides a letter of ‘in principle’ support

3.     The applicant must provide all required insurances, agree to providing all required reporting, and accept Creative Albany’s auspicing fee

4.     The applicant is successful and Creative Albany receives the funds on behalf of the applicant, and distributes the funds for the project / event as required

5.     The applicant provides all required reporting and acknowledges Creative Albany for their support.

Creative Albany is willing to offer ‘in principle’ support for projects that meet the following criteria:

1.     A funding application to an arts sector funding body ie: not tourism or business funding body

2.     Applicant/s must have a residential address in the Great Southern, Western Australia

3.     A not-for-profit project that is arts based ie: not a commercial business or enterprise

4.     Does not require Creative Albany to provide insurance cover

5.     Must acknowledge Creative Albany in all relevant promotions of the project / event

6.     Ability to provide progress reporting as the project develops

7.     Understand that an auspicing fee will be charged. Creative Albany does not have paid staff and the auspicing fee may be used to pay for additional duties required to manage the specific project.

8.     Applicant must become a member of Creative Albany

Please note ‘in principle’ support is a non-binding commitment to auspice for the purpose of obtaining funding. Until a formal aupicing agreement has been signed by all stakeholders, Creative Albany has the right to reverse an initial offer of ‘in principle’ support, regardless of a successful funding grant, depending on resources available.
